Weeping Higan Cherry #2:

A large specimen tree at 8’ tall by 12’ wide on Mountain road in West Hartford. Large suckers had taken over from the base of the graft union and were threatening to take over the crown. I removed these and proceeded to clean and preserve the older wood. New growth in the spring will be trained to fill in certain gaps and all else will be removed to keep and open habit. Shade loving perennials will now have enough filtered sunlight to flourish under this Cherry and add color to a once bare dark spot. Close-up picture demonstrates how much dead wood accumulates when yearly pruning isn't achieved.
