Sheared Viburnum Pruning:

Another example of a shrub that has been sheared because of a lack of understanding for the shrubs pruning needs. Viburnum’s are known to sucker frequently and if unpruned, the plant will get out of control quickly. Shearing may be easier, but the plant will need replacement before the typical life expectancy. Hand pruning every year ensures a nice neat shrub which flowers well and is healthy.
